Senior Project Autobiographical Narrative Growing up, I learned many things about my culture and where I came from. My parents are immigrants; they came from Thailand. My brother, sisters, and I were born in United States. We have 9 people in my family and I am the youngest one in my family so I’m practically the baby in the family. I was born in Tulare California. It was hard being different from the community and the students from school. When I lived in Tulare, it was hard for me to go to school without being bullied. A few years later we moved here, Lindsay California. The community and people in Lindsay were different from the people in Tulare. At the time I was 7 years old, I had started school. I was in kindergarten. It was hard being different in school. On the first day, I was made front of. I was called names and got bullied. On a weekly base I was called names like chino, chinker, Chinese and many more. One day I decided to act sick so I didn’t have to go to school. Skipping school that day didn’t help stop the bullying; it just made it worse for me because the kids that were bullying me had more mean names to call me. One day I was so fed up of being bullied so I told an adult. After I told an adult they stopped bullying me. I was glad that it had stopped. I wasn’t afraid to make new friends or go to school anymore. Moving to Lindsay began in the middle of my 1st grade year. One day I got home and saw all the furniture missing. I asked my parents what was going on. They told me that we were moving to Lindsay. I was so excited to move because it was my first time moving. But at the same time I didn’t want to move because I didn’t want to go through the bullying again. The first day I moved to Lindsay, I also changed schools. I wasn’t looking forward to going because I didn’t want to get bullied. As I entered my new classroom I was greeted with a good morning, how are you, and what’s your name. My new classmates were so nice to me; I was glad that I moved here. I liked Lindsay better than Tulare. My other classmates wanted to be my friend and they didn’t call me names or bully me. I am now 17. Now I’m a junior in high school. I have made many more friends and people stop bullying me and stopped calling me names. I mostly focused on making music with a guitar. I am trying to working my way up to be a guitarist with the help from my guitar teacher. I have learned many guitar techniques to make my music sound better. High school isn’t as easy as I thought it’d be. I’ve been stressing so much because I haven’t been passing all my classes and I’m going to be a senior in a few months. All these things have led me to who I am today. I want thank the people that impacted my life. Growing up and going to school for the first time wasn’t so easy but as long as you keep going and keep your head up, you will be successful.
